IMAGE MAKEOVER

Traditionally companies wouldn’t ask a web designer to create their company logo.  And neither would they task their graphic designer with creating a web site for them.

Why not?

Maintaining a brand image for your company means making sure that all of your marketing materials – brochures, business stationery, logos, exhibition boards, website, etc – use the same identity.  Customers like to recognise the company brand whatever piece of marketing or advertising they are seeing.  It makes them feel comfortable even when viewing new products.

WEBSITE OF THE MONTH: http://pinterest.com

Do you remember the saying “what goes around, comes around”?  Even in this digital age it still applies, albeit in virtual form rather than physical.

The children’s hobby of creating pin boards of favourite things faded into the background for a while – but now it’s back with a vengeance. However, instead of a cork board on a bedroom wall it’s a screen on a PC or laptop.

According to the site developers: “Pinterest is a virtual pin board which allows users to organise and share photos or inspiring things they find on the web. The pin boards can be used to plan weddings, decorate homes, reveal favourite recipes or simply share ideas with friends.”

HINTS AND TIPS: CONTENT IS KING

All too often it’s not what you say but the way that you say it that makes a difference.  With website copy that has never been more true.

Many companies believe that they are the best people to write the words for their website; after all, they know their products and services better than anyone.  And there’s no disputing that.  The problem comes in writing objectively about a subject dear to your heart.

The objective of any sales literature or website is to promote your company and its passion while emphasising the benefits of your products to prospective customers.  So what points should you look out for when composing the text for your new website?
